Homelessness is a killer!

More and more homeless people are now living on the streets throughout the UK, and it’s becoming a spiralling pandemic which needs our urgent attention!

In the current economic climate, it is expected that many other people will suddenly find themselves homeless for numerous reasons ... Mental Health, PTSD, Divorce, Financial, Alcoholism, Drug Addiction, Violence and/or Sexual Abuse are just a few reasons that people end up homeless and living on the streets.

Experts believe there is already an escalating homelessness crisis. After the Covid 19 pandemic more and more homeowners are now struggling to keep their heads above water.

"No-one should have to live on the streets, especially in the 21st Century".

The majority of rough sleepers in the UK are men over 26 years old. The government is spending £2 billion over the next three years to relieve homelessness and rough sleeping by 2026.

Although the government have been heavily condemned for not increasing the funding, they have earmarked £500 million to be spent on rough sleeping alone over the next three years and to provide 14,000 beds for those sleeping rough and 3,000 staff to offer support with a further £200 million to be spent on single homeless accommodation and to provide 2,400 long-term supported homes for people with the most complex needs.

Our Mission

Homeless and Hungry is a 'Not for Profit' Organisation established to help and support people, who for whatever reason, have found themselves homeless in recent times.

Our aim is to provide warm clothing including coats, jumpers, sweatshirts, boots, socks, etc for both male and female homeless victims. We will also provide financial support for homeless charities throughout the UK to assist with their ongoing projects and assist in providing more much-needed food banks and emergency kitchens.

We will also co-operate with other voluntary organisations, hospices and similar bodies to exchange information and advice and on occasions merge in a partnership or joint venture for future fundraising.

Fundraising Ideas

Get involved and raise funds for our vital work with homelessness charities and hospices. How you choose to fundraise is up to you. Here are just a few ideas ...

Sponsored
BIKE RIDE

A sponsored bike ride can be a fun way of raising funds for Homeless and Hungry ... you can organise an event very quickly with a few friends or work colleagues.

If the weather is good, you can organise a lengthy bike ride across a certain distance or a track event where you can have a separate event for junior cyclists.

If the weather is bad, why not organise something with your local gym to use their cycle equipment and do timed events for people to complete. That way you can get a lot more people involved!

Sponsored
SWIM

A sponsored swim is definitely something for all ages. You can easily do relays for adults and juniors to be carried out over a particular time period.

The more people you involve, the more money you're likely to raise, and you can feel really good to know that all funds are going to a very worthy cause.

THERE ARE MANY OTHER EVENTS YOU CAN ORGANISE TO RAISE FUNDS ... including a Sports Day with a three-legged race, egg and spoon race, sack race, etc. Given a little imagination, we're sure you can come up with some amazing ideas of your own. Whatever, you decide to do, please send us some photos of your event so we can add them to our Fundraiser Gallery (coming soon).

Sponsored
RAMBLE

A sponsored ramble is something you can easily arrange with family, friends and work colleagues alike. Just be aware that you are responsible for other peoples safety, so ensure that there is a trained first aider in your team before you set out. It is a good idea to ensure that everyone carries the right equipment too, ie hiking boots, waterproofs, thick socks, jumpers, hats, etc.

It also makes sense that the most experienced ramblers among you can spread themselves out across the group, so you can maintain a safe and enjoyable walk.

GET INVOLVED

In the 21st century, we believe that every person should have a roof over their heads, enough food to eat and overall good health. We should be looking to address the problems of all homeless people and getting them back on the right track. To be able to give them a chance to rebuild their lives and move forward to where their future is a much brighter place and happier place, where they can begin to feel human again!

Homeless and Hungry aims to raise the necessary funds to assist homeless people to do this and we are relying on your generosity to help us to do this. So why not get involved? We are always looking for new volunteers who have a desire to put something back into society.
